Birmingham Indivisible:
Establishing a Genuine Democracy – a government of, for & by the people
About Birmingham Indivisible
Birmingham Indivisible is a grassroots not for profit organization committed to creating a better Alabama and establishing a genuine democracy—a government of, by, and for the people. Since its inception, the organization has focused on empowering local communities and fostering engagement in the democratic process.
Origins and Foundation
The organization was founded in 2017 during the first term of the Trump administration. Birmingham Indivisible drew inspiration and guidance from the National Indivisible guide, a resource designed to help communities organize locally and collectively apply pressure on state elected officials. The primary goal was to encourage resistance to the Trump administration and its Project 2025 agenda.
Collective Power and Nationwide Movement
By utilizing the strategies outlined in the National Indivisible guide, Birmingham Indivisible became part of a nationwide movement. This movement empowered individuals to harness their own power through collective action, uniting communities across the country in coordinated campaigns. The strength of the movement lies in its ability to act together, embodying the principle of being indivisible.
