Thank you, Birmingham. On Saturday, October 17, you filled 3rd Avenue South and Railroad Park for No Kings IV: Celebrate Your Vote. You marched, you listened, you visited the partner tables, and you showed up with signs, flags, friends, and good humor.

That turnout matters, and so does what comes next. A rally is a great day. A plan to vote is what turns it into a result. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and this is how to get ready.

    Make your plan to vote

It takes about ten minutes, and it is the difference between meaning to vote and voting.

    1. Check your registration and polling place.Look yourself up on the state’s Voter View page. If your name is not there or something looks wrong, call your county Board of Registrars right away.
      Check my voter status
    2. Put your photo ID in your bag.Alabama requires a valid photo ID to vote, at the polls or by absentee ballot.
    3. Pick your day and time.Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3. Decide when you will go, and how you will get there.
    4. Voting absentee? Mind these dates.Alabama requires a qualifying reason to vote absentee. Your application must reach your county absentee election manager by Tuesday, Oct. 27 if mailed, or Thursday, Oct. 29 if delivered in person. Return your ballot by Monday, Nov. 2 if you hand-deliver it, or so it arrives by noon on Nov. 3 if you mail it.
    5. Bring someone with you.Text three friends your plan and ask for theirs. People who vote together tend to show up.

The deadline to register for this election was October 19. Full details are at AlabamaVotes.gov.

Thank you to everyone who came out

You gave up a Saturday morning to say that our democracy belongs to the people who show up for it. Here are a few of the faces and signs from the day.

    Thank you to our partners

This rally was built with many partner organizations. They tabled, shared voter information, and stood with us all morning. Please take a moment to look them up and support their work year-round.

Thank you to our volunteers, speakers, and performers

To everyone who set up, welcomed people, carried signs and water, helped neighbors with voting information, took the microphone, and cleaned up afterward: you made the day run. We could not have done it without you.

Chris Soniat talked about the rally and what comes next in a short interview on Facebook.

    Keep going with us

The rally is over, but the work is not. Between now and November 3, the best thing you can do is vote and help three people you know do the same. Then stay with us. Birmingham Indivisible has a place for whatever time and energy you have.

  • Press Release: No Kings IV — Celebrate Your Vote!

    FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE · October 6, 2026

“No Kings IV — Celebrate Your Vote!”: Birmingham Indivisible joins Greater Birmingham Ministries, Poor People’s Campaign and ACLU Alabama to make sure every eligible voter has a plan, knows their options and is ready to make their voice COUNT!!

On October 17, 2026, our No Kings IV — Celebrate Your Vote event, held in collaboration with numerous other nonpartisan organizations across the country, will encourage people to “Get Out The Vote” across the United States.

Families across the country are struggling to afford groceries, gas, electric bills and the everyday cost of getting by. The decisions made by those in power shape our lives, our communities and our future.

This will be a day of nonpartisan voter participation, being in community with each other and making sure every eligible voter has a plan, knows their options and is ready to make their voice count. Comedian Matt Davis will return for a repeat performance as MC.

First, at 11 a.m., attendees are encouraged to bring their signs and costumes and line 3rd Ave South between 14th and 18th Streets South, all designed to CELEBRATE and PROTECT our ability to VOTE! Bring your own signs, or we will have a few to share.

Then, beginning at 11:30 a.m. and lasting until 2 p.m., we will gather in Railroad Park where there will be various opportunities to learn more about voting, preparing to vote, getting out the vote and protecting the vote. The League of Women Voters of Greater Birmingham and We❤️The Vote will be assisting people in checking their voter status and polling location and will be registering or updating voter registrations. Greater Birmingham Ministries will sign up people who need rides to the polls. Black Voters Matter Fund will train people on canvassing. There will be information about in-person absentee voting, and we will also be recruiting canvassers and phone bankers. There will also be information about poll monitor training and about Hands Off Our Vote.

“Since the first No Kings in June of last year millions of people have demonstrated they are not afraid and they will not bow to any would-be American King. We’ve sent that message loud and clear – but we’re not just sending a message with this next No Kings. We’re taking back power for the people using our constitutional right to organize and our constitutional right to vote,” said Ezra Levin, co-founder and co-executive director of Indivisible.

These celebrations will occur at 13 different sites in Alabama: Athens, Huntsville, Fort Payne, Oneonta, Oxford, Tuscaloosa, Clanton, Auburn, Montgomery, Dothan, Mobile, Foley and, of course, Birmingham. For a full list of participating cities, locations and event details, visit NoKings.org.
