Railroad Park, Saturday, October 17.

Thank you, Birmingham. On Saturday, October 17, you filled 3rd Avenue South and Railroad Park for No Kings IV: Celebrate Your Vote. You marched, you listened, you visited the partner tables, and you showed up with signs, flags, friends, and good humor.

That turnout matters, and so does what comes next. A rally is a great day. A plan to vote is what turns it into a result. Election Day is Tuesday, November 3, and this is how to get ready.

Make your plan to vote

It takes about ten minutes, and it is the difference between meaning to vote and voting.

  1. Check your registration and polling place.Look yourself up on the state’s Voter View page. If your name is not there or something looks wrong, call your county Board of Registrars right away.
    Check my voter status
  2. Put your photo ID in your bag.Alabama requires a valid photo ID to vote, at the polls or by absentee ballot.
  3. Pick your day and time.Polls are open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 3. Decide when you will go, and how you will get there.
  4. Voting absentee? Mind these dates.Alabama requires a qualifying reason to vote absentee. Your application must reach your county absentee election manager by Tuesday, Oct. 27 if mailed, or Thursday, Oct. 29 if delivered in person. Return your ballot by Monday, Nov. 2 if you hand-deliver it, or so it arrives by noon on Nov. 3 if you mail it.
  5. Bring someone with you.Text three friends your plan and ask for theirs. People who vote together tend to show up.

The deadline to register for this election was October 19. Full details are at AlabamaVotes.gov.

Thank you to everyone who came out

You gave up a Saturday morning to say that our democracy belongs to the people who show up for it. Here are a few of the faces and signs from the day.

Thank you to our partners

This rally was built with many partner organizations. They tabled, shared voter information, and stood with us all morning. Please take a moment to look them up and support their work year-round.

To everyone who set up, welcomed people, carried signs and water, helped neighbors with voting information, took the microphone, and cleaned up afterward: you made the day run. We could not have done it without you.

Keep going with us

The rally is over, but the work is not. Between now and November 3, the best thing you can do is vote and help three people you know do the same. Then stay with us. Birmingham Indivisible has a place for whatever time and energy you have.
